Restoration and Rehabilitation of Ghernata building
The abandoned horserace main building and remaining site (known as Ghornata City) was registered by NOUH, Egyptian Ministry of Culture as “B”. The building needed major restoration to its elevations and interiors, while rehabilitating it into group of culture and entertainment activities: open air theater, exhibition hall, restaurant, cafeteria, and necessary services. This demanded equipping the complex with the necessary air conditioning, in addition to safety and security devices. While these new technology appliances were added, a sensitive approach to maintain the heritage qualities of the structures and guarantying a smooth operation were achieved
